Is colosseum a landmark in World History…..?
The Colosseum of ancient Rome is one of the landmark of the world history. For it is a testimonial to the greatness of the Roman Empire.
This giant amphitheatre was built in the centre of Rome. The contruction was started by Empiror Vespasian in AD 72. And completed in AD 80 by successor and heir, the Empiror Titus.
The collosseum was huge. It could seat 50,000 people. It covered around 2.4 hectarer of land. It took more than 1.1 million tones of marble, stone, and brick’s to complete the massive structure. The Roman Gladiator fights and other form of entertainment for the Roman people in the colosseum including mock sea battles.
After four centuries of active use. The magnicient arena fell into neglect. Though two thirds of original colosseum has been destroyed over time. The amplithetre remain a popular tourist destination, as well as an iconic symbol of Rome….
